TGIF!!!
Nobody in your building is going to send you a memo saying the martech stack changed. It happens the way it happened this week, in two product launches you would normally skim.
Monday, Zendesk introduced Specialized AI Agents: Industry Agents, launching with commerce and wired into Shopify, Narvar, Stripe and Riskified, and Custom Agents your own team builds in a no-code Agent Builder. The detail that matters is the last line of the announcement. Those agents run inside Zendesk, and also inside Salesforce and ServiceNow. Zendesk says they automate up to 80% of workflows and that customers have run more than a million Custom Agent executions in seven weeks, both of which are the company's own numbers, from the company's own release, also carried by destinationCRM.
"The era of generic, one-size-fits-all AI agents is over. The best agents are specialists: deeply grounded in the work, the industry, and the business they serve," said Shashi Upadhyay, Zendesk's president of product, engineering and AI.
Tuesday, Zoom launched an AI-powered revenue OS with Engage for multichannel sequences, Forecast for live deal forecasting, and Common Room, which it bought in July. TechTarget noted the staging: Zoom announced it on the opening day of Salesforce's Dreamforce, in San Francisco.
Then the sentence your CFO will find. "For Zoom to really break in and take away some of the market share from the Salesforces, the HubSpots … it's going to take a lot of work," Daren Brabham, an analyst at ETR, told TechTarget. "There's a lot of inertia."
He is right, and it matters less than it sounds. Neither company needs to win CRM. They need one workflow in your stack running on their agent instead of somebody else's, and the video vendor and the ticketing vendor are both now quoting you on revenue software.

Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads
Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:
After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.
The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.
“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”
Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.
TALK ON THE MARKET
Jonathan Lehr, co-founder at Work-Bench, summarizing how the market is answering build-or-buy, at the WSJ Leadership Institute's technology summit:
If I want to summarize what we're seeing in the market right now in terms of buy versus build, it's buy to operate and build to differentiate.

NUMBERS MATTER
96%. Pinterest says 640 million people use it monthly, running more than 80 billion searches a month, and that nearly all of them, 96%, are unbranded. It put those numbers behind Visual Search Ads, launched Thursday, which let advertisers bid for the top response inside search results.
Its headline proof point, an 85% improvement in cost per install, is footnoted to one advertiser in an alpha test. Use the 96%. Leave the 85%.
DAILY PROMPT
The full Martech Consolidation Strategy prompt from the hub. Your stack grew an agent layer this year and nobody wrote it down:
Audit and consolidate our martech stack to eliminate operational debt and prove AI ROI fast. Use the files I attach ([ATTACHED FILES]: tool inventory, spend and renewal dates, workflow docs, admin or usage exports), research current vendor capabilities and pricing yourself, run the arithmetic rather than estimating it, and flag where my data is too thin to support a conclusion.
## Context
Our marketing team currently uses [NUMBER] tools across [DEPARTMENTS/FUNCTIONS]. We're experiencing:
- Coordination overhead and approval delays in [SPECIFIC WORKFLOW]
- Tool sprawl causing duplicate capabilities in [AREA]
- Data silos preventing [SPECIFIC OUTCOME]
- Team cycles wasted on [MANUAL PROCESS]
Our goal: Consolidate strategically, implement AI in one high-friction workflow first, and prove measurable ROI within [TIMEFRAME].
## Your Task
Conduct a martech consolidation audit that identifies:
1. **Operational Debt Assessment**
- Map current tools by function and identify overlaps
- Quantify time leakage: Which workflows have the most coordination overhead?
- Identify broken handoffs between [TEAM A] and [TEAM B]
- Flag shadow tools or workarounds your team uses
2. **High-Friction Workflow Analysis**
- Which workflow directly impacts [REVENUE METRIC/PIPELINE]?
- Where is time bleeding without corresponding output quality improvement?
- Which process has the highest approval/rework cycle?
- Rank by: time cost + revenue impact + consolidation feasibility
3. **AI Consolidation Opportunity**
- For the top 3 workflows, identify where AI can:
* Reduce coordination steps
* Eliminate manual handoffs
* Improve output quality without adding tools
- Specify which existing tools can embed AI vs. require new solutions, citing the vendor documentation you checked
4. **Consolidation Roadmap**
- Phase 1 (0-30 days): Implement AI in [HIGHEST-IMPACT WORKFLOW]
- Phase 2 (30-90 days): Consolidate [OVERLAPPING TOOLS]
- Phase 3 (90+ days): Scale proven workflows
- Include: tool sunsetting, data migration, team retraining
5. **ROI Proof Plan**
- Define baseline metrics for the pilot workflow (time saved, quality lift, pipeline impact)
- Set success criteria that convince a CFO (not just speed, but revenue correlation)
- Identify which metrics compound as you scale
## Output Format
Provide a structured audit report with:
- Executive summary (1 paragraph)
- Current state martech map with cost/overlap analysis
- Operational debt quantification (hours/week wasted)
- Top 3 consolidation opportunities ranked by ROI potential
- 90-day implementation roadmap with milestones
- Governance guardrails (security, brand, data risk)
- Success metrics and CFO-ready ROI narrative
- A short list of the assumptions you made and the inputs you would need to replace them
## Constraints
- Assume [BUDGET CONSTRAINT if applicable]
- Prioritize tools that integrate with [EXISTING PLATFORM]
- Account for [TEAM SIZE] team capacity
- Avoid tool-first thinking; focus on workflow outcomesDo it before renewal season, not during. Every vendor in that list is about to pitch you the same agent, and two of them are already charging you for it.
CMO CORNER
Scalable leadership does less, thinks more, and builds what lasts.
Buy to operate, build to differentiate, as the man said on Wednesday. The corollary for a week like this one: every hour you spend evaluating a vendor's new agent is an hour not spent deciding which capabilities have to be yours. Zendesk and Zoom are both betting you will not make that call, and will simply take the agent that arrives with the software you already own. That is a decision either way. Make it the deliberate one.
We provide consulting services for CMOs on AI strategy for marketing teams through our Teamless offering.

LEARN THIS
If two vendors added an agent layer in one week, your stack is quietly getting more expensive: Operational Debt Scorecard.
It is a way to count what you are carrying, which tools overlap, what nobody has switched off, and what the duplication costs before the renewals land. For the leader who suspects the answer is bad and wants the number before somebody else finds it.
