Happy Tuesday.

If your lifecycle team runs on Braze, somebody in it had a strange Tuesday last week.

Salesforce signed a deal to buy Braze for about $5.66 billion in enterprise value, $47.50 a share in cash. That's about 58% above Braze's last close, per TNW, and Salesforce's own shares fell about 3%.

Braze is the thing that watches what customers do in your app or on your site and fires a message back in real time. About 2,770 customers, Dairy Queen, Equinox, Instacart, Urban Outfitters and Venmo among them. Revenue grew 26% to $227.2 million in the quarter to July, TNW says.

Salesforce wants Braze's "real-time engagement and AI decisioning capabilities" plugged into Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud. The release also says the two share "a commitment to an open, composable approach."

I'd want that sentence in a contract, not a press release.

Digiday put the tension plainly. A more unified stack also puts more of your workflow inside one vendor's ecosystem. At Braze's Forge conference in late September, before any deal, customers were already worried about migrating platforms, normalizing data and keeping email deliverability. Digiday is careful to call lock-in a risk to watch, not a confirmed consequence. Fair enough.

The line I keep coming back to is from Braze's cofounder and CTO, Jon Hyman, at Forge: "We want that launch button to be hit by a human." Good line. He said it a few weeks before his company agreed to join the one that named its AI agents Agentforce.

The deal isn't expected to close until Salesforce's fiscal 2028, which starts in February 2027. So you've got months, and right now you're a customer both companies want to keep happy. That's the only time you have leverage.

Use it. Ask in writing how you'd export your data, your assets and your journey logic, and what happens to pricing at renewal. Get the answers before the integration roadmap does.

If you had to move your customer messaging off Braze in 2028, who on your team could tell you how long it would take?

Your AI prompts are leaving out 80% of what you're thinking.

When you type a prompt, you summarize. When you speak one, you explain. Wispr Flow captures your full reasoning (constraints, edge cases, examples, tone) and turns it into clean, structured text you paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI tool. The difference shows up immediately. More context in, fewer follow-ups out.

Used by teams at Microsoft, Amazon, and Notion. Try Wispr Flow free on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android.

TALK ON THE MARKET

Dharmesh Shah, HubSpot's co-founder and CTO, on building it yourself:

Same goes for the stack you stitch together to avoid a big-vendor renewal. Somebody has to feed it, and it's usually marketing ops.

NUMBERS MATTER

16% vs 9%. Shoppers who start looking for products in ChatGPT, and shoppers who go there to buy, in a Feedvisor survey reported by Digiday last Friday. Only 5% buy on the spot when an AI assistant recommends something.

Feedvisor sells e-commerce software, and Digiday doesn't give the sample. A separate PartnerCentric survey found only 14.8% go to the brand's own site after an AI suggestion. The AI starts the search. Somebody else's page usually finishes it.

DAILY PROMPT

Our Martech Integration Mapping prompt, for knowing exactly what's wired to what before anyone renegotiates:

Map the marketing technology stack for a [COMPANY_SIZE] [INDUSTRY] company and produce an integration plan I can act on. Read the files I attach (stack inventory, integration exports, field dictionaries, vendor contracts, ticket logs) and research current vendor API documentation, connector limits, and known sync constraints on the web before you conclude anything.

## Current Stack Information
Provide analysis for these tools:
- Marketing Automation Platform: [CURRENT_MAP]
- CRM System: [CURRENT_CRM]
- Analytics Platform: [CURRENT_ANALYTICS]
- Email Platform: [CURRENT_EMAIL]
- Additional Tools: [OTHER_TOOLS]

## Integration Mapping Requirements

### 1. Data Flow Analysis
For each tool pair, identify:
- What data flows between them (customer records, behavioral data, campaign performance, etc.)
- Current integration method (native API, iPaaS connector, custom webhook, reverse ETL, manual export)
- Data sync frequency (real time, hourly, daily, weekly)
- Potential data quality issues or gaps, citing the attached exports where you can

### 2. Integration Gaps & Opportunities
Identify:
- Tools that should be connected but aren't
- Redundant data flows that could be consolidated
- Missing integrations blocking key workflows
- Tools with poor native integration requiring workarounds

### 3. Priority Roadmap
Create a phased implementation plan:
- Phase 1 (0-3 months): Critical integrations blocking revenue/efficiency
- Phase 2 (3-6 months): High-impact integrations improving data quality
- Phase 3 (6-12 months): Nice-to-have integrations enhancing insights

For each integration, specify:
- Business impact (revenue, efficiency, data quality)
- Implementation complexity (low/medium/high)
- Estimated timeline and resources needed
- Success metrics

### 4. Risk Assessment
For each proposed integration, evaluate:
- Data security and compliance risks (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2)
- API rate limits or performance impacts, using documented limits you verified
- Vendor dependency risks
- Maintenance and support requirements

### 5. Governance Framework
Recommend:
- Data ownership and stewardship model
- Integration naming conventions and documentation standards
- Change management process for new integrations
- Monitoring and alerting for integration failures
- Quarterly review cadence for stack optimization

## Output Format
Provide the analysis as:
1. Executive summary (2-3 key findings and recommendations)
2. Current state integration diagram (text-based or ASCII)
3. Detailed integration matrix (tool pairs with current status)
4. Gap analysis with business case for each gap
5. Phased roadmap with timeline and resource estimates
6. Risk register with mitigation strategies
7. Governance recommendations with implementation steps

Be specific about API capabilities, data mapping requirements, and potential bottlenecks. Include cost-benefit analysis where relevant, separate verified facts from assumptions, and list the questions you need answered to raise confidence.

Put Braze or Marketing Cloud in the email line and attach the contract. The vendor dependency risks in section 4 are the page you take to procurement.

BRAND SLOP

Limerick's council wanted to get ahead of Christmas, so its festivals account posted a video of this year's plans: Christmas at the Castle, a Santa party, a fair at the Crescent. The ice rinks and vendor-lined streets were AI-generated, and the Irish Independent says it passed 70,000 views.

Viewers complained, so the team switched the comments off. Then councillors had their turn. Sarah Kiely called it "the biggest heap of rubbish I came across in my life," and Dan McSweeney compared the comment shutdown to Russia. The footage doesn't exist yet, director Seán Lenihan told them, per the Limerick Post.

As Kiely pointed out, the first time the account got real engagement, it took it down. Does your social team know what to do when the comments on an AI post turn?
