Happy Tuesday.
If you've ever tried to get a TikTok campaign live, you know the real work is the creative churn, feeding the machine enough variations to keep it running.
Last Monday TikTok proposed to take that off your hands, along with most of the rest of the funnel. Buy Direct lets someone purchase from the For You feed in one click. A conversational Shopping Assistant "understands context, remembers user needs, and finds the right products just for them".
Agentic Leads is an AI agent that qualifies prospects inside your DMs and on your own website's lead forms. Smart+ now runs search ads. And Smart+ Creative Selection pulls your assets, TikTok's Symphony-generated creative and creator content into one approval queue.
One queue. Your team's creative judgment, as a checkbox.
The TikTok Ad Network, about 400,000 third-party apps, opens to US advertisers with IAS measuring it, Marketing Dive reports. The ads MCP server from May now connects to Claude, Kimi, Manus, Perplexity and Snowflake, so an agent you already run can build the campaign without a developer in the room.
David Kaufman, TikTok's global head of monetization product partnerships, said in the release that "AI is transforming how advertiser content is created and scaled," which is true, and also the sales pitch.
The numbers in the announcement are TikTok's: a commissioned report says $81 billion in US GDP and 54 million Americans who bought after watching a video. The brochure, not the audit.
What I keep coming back to is the shape of it. Discovery was always TikTok's. Now it wants the transaction, the lead qualification and the creative approval, with the holiday season six weeks out. Every one of those used to be a step your team owned, measured and could switch off.
Full automation will beat a tired team by Q1. The thing to decide before you flip it on is what you'll still be able to see afterwards.
So when the agent in your DMs tells a prospect something your sales team wouldn't, who finds out first?
Today’s sponsor:
One workspace where buyers, sellers, and AI close deals together
Instead of running your deals across scattered email threads and forgotten attachments, Aligned brings everything into one shared deal workspace.
Buyers get a single place to evaluate, loop in their team, and say yes. Sellers get visibility into what is actually happening when they're not in the room and AI Deal Insights that help you act accordingly, before it's too late.
Best part? Your first deal room takes only minutes to stand up.
TALK ON THE MARKET
Kipp Bodnar, CMO of HubSpot, on why Amazon is blocking shopping agents, the week TikTok launched one:
His other two reasons: agents doing hourly price checks erode a thin margin, and Amazon won't hand its search box to Meta, Google or OpenAI and become "just your average shopping site".
Read it next to TikTok's Shopping Assistant. Amazon bans the agent and TikTok builds one, and they're protecting the same thing: the search box.

NUMBERS MATTER
35%. That's how many of 100 B2B marketing leaders told Peep Laja's Wynter that their last big marketing decision was mainly a gut call from leadership. 13% based it on research with target buyers, per his post.
76% said they research non-customers. Asked to describe the last time, 37% could name one.
DAILY PROMPT
Our TikTok Ads Strategy Planner, worth running before you let Smart+ pick the creative for you:
Build a performance-driven TikTok advertising strategy for a [INDUSTRY] brand. The goal is a concrete, actionable plan that reduces planning friction and connects ad spend directly to pipeline outcomes. Read any files I attach (ad account exports, organic analytics, CRM pipeline data, creative archives), research current TikTok ad formats and [INDUSTRY] benchmarks on the web, and run the math on budget scenarios before you answer. Flag assumptions you had to make.
## Campaign Context
- Brand/Product: [BRAND_NAME]
- Primary Objective: [AWARENESS/CONSIDERATION/CONVERSION]
- Target Audience: [AUDIENCE_DESCRIPTION]
- Monthly Ad Budget: $[BUDGET]
- Campaign Duration: [TIMEFRAME]
- Current TikTok Following: [FOLLOWER_COUNT] (or "new account")
- Key Performance Metric: [METRIC - e.g., cost per lead, ROAS, video views]
## Your Task
Develop a 30-day TikTok ads strategy that:
1. **Audience Segmentation**: Define 2-3 distinct audience segments with specific targeting parameters (interests, behaviors, demographics). For each segment, explain why they're high-intent for [PRODUCT_TYPE]. Ground segment sizing in the attached data where it exists.
2. **Creative Direction**: Recommend 4-5 specific video concepts optimized for TikTok's native format. Include hook style, content arc, and call-to-action for each. Specify which audience segment each creative targets.
3. **Campaign Structure**: Outline the ad account setup (campaigns, ad groups, budgets). Recommend starting budget allocation across segments. Include testing strategy for the first 7 days.
4. **Conversion Path**: Map how TikTok traffic flows to [LANDING_PAGE/PRODUCT/LEAD_FORM]. Identify potential friction points and how to reduce them.
5. **Measurement Framework**: Define 3 primary metrics and 2 secondary metrics. Specify daily/weekly review cadence and decision rules (e.g., "pause if CPC exceeds $X by day 5"). Calculate the break-even cost per outcome from my economics.
6. **Operational Handoff**: Create a simple weekly reporting template that shows: spend, impressions, engagement rate, traffic to conversion point, and cost per outcome. Include one key insight and one recommended action.
## Output Format
Structure your response with clear sections matching the tasks above. Use bullet points for specificity. Avoid generic advice. Make every recommendation specific to [INDUSTRY] and [OBJECTIVE], and cite the file or source behind any number you use.Use it now, with your own economics in the break-even line, so you have a plan to hold against whatever Smart+ decides.

Step out of the spotlight so the system can shine.

BRAND SLOP
Nine made the launch promo for Love Island Australia with AI. It labeled the Instagram post "AI Content", and it put Ariana Madix, the host of the US version, in it, handing over the villa keys.

She answered in the comments. "They didn't tell me AT ALL that the clip I shot would be used with AI," she wrote under the post, per Pedestrian, adding that she doesn't work for the show. The top fan comment, past 5,000 likes: "The fact they used AI is just straight up embarrassing." Nine hasn't commented.
She did film a clip. Nobody told her what it was for. Every talent consent form your team uses was written before "with AI" was a question. Has anyone read yours since?
